Sublimation printing is a unique and versatile printing process that allows for the transfer of vibrant, colourful and high-quality designs onto different materials, primarily fabrics and coated substrates. Sublimation printing uses a special sublimation ink that turns into a gas when exposed to high heat, bypassing the liquid state. The ink permeates the surface of the material and becomes a permanent part of it, resulting in prints that are exceptionally vivid, durable, and fade resistant. The sublimation process begins with designing your artwork on a computer. Once the design is ready, it is printed onto special sublimation transfer paper using sublimation ink from a specifically converted sublimation printer. The printed transfer paper is then placed on the target material, typically polyester or materials with a polymer coating. The two are subjected to high heat and pressure in a heat press, causing the sublimation ink to transform into a gas and infuse into the material's fibres or coating. As the heat is removed, the ink solidifies, permanently bonding with the material, resulting in a smooth and seamless print that retains the fabric's texture, breathability and a great design.
